THE ALL PURPOSE BLUES BAND - Biography

WILLIE LOCKETT : (The Hambone) a true Blues Man …and like the mighty oaks of his native New Orleans his roots run deep. He played trumpet in Professor Longhair’s band in the mid 60’s, then soon form his own blues band, and played numerous bars and clubs throughout Louisiana. Willie has shared the stage with Wayne Bennett, Z.Z. Hill, Ernie K- Doe, Albert Collins, and Gatemouth Brown. His first CD release was in the year 1996, with the Blues Krewe. The CD title ” Six O’ Clock Blues” was a local success. Willie is known world wide from his years performing on Bourbon St. Each time he takes the stage, Willie puts out 110% , singing, dancing and playing the trumpet.

 

BILLY GREGORY (Wild Bill Gravy) began playing the guitar at age 9 and started playing Bourbon ST. at age 14. He recorded in Stax, Fame, and Universal studios between 1967 and 1970. Billy has played and toured with legends Professor Longhair, Johnny Adams, Ernie K- Doe, Lee Dorsey, Irma Thomas, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker, Charlie Musselwhite, The Neville Brothers, Andy J. Forest, Mighty Sam McClain. You can also see him in the Aaron Neville, Linda Ronstandt video “When Something Is Wrong With My Baby”. He was the guitarist for the legendary rock group “IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY” from 71 thru 73.

 

PAUL R. BOUDREAUX, a native New Orleanian and a self-taught musician. Paul began to play the bass guitar while serving duty in the Army stationed in Germany in 1965 . Returning home he did numerous recording sessions with Eddie Bo, Johnny Adams, and Bobby Powell. Paul toured and recorded with Joe Simon, Johnny Taylor, Luther Ingram and The Isaac Hayes Revue. He has preformed with Martha Reeves, Eddie Floyd, Clarence Carter, Dorothy Moore, Benny Spellman, Irma Thomas, Ernie K-Doe, Johnny Adams, Marva Wright, Art, Aaron, Charles and Syril Neville, Paul is also a very accomplished songwriter and producer in the studio. Paul has written and produced the CD 's for Willie Lockett and The Blues Krewe (SIX O' CLOCK BLUES) and local artist Willie West (WHEN YOU TIE KNOT).

 

TONY D’ALESSANDRO has been playing drums professionally for twenty years He has preformed with a number of bands in venues ranging from small clubs to huge stage concerts. He has been fortunate enough to have back up such artist as Frankie Ford , Roland Stone, Irma Thomas, Oliver “WHO SHOT THE LA LA” Morgan, Rockie Charles, and many other local artist. He has also done numerous recordings sessions with Orleans Records as well as independent sessions. Tony recorded and engineered “THE ALL PURPOSE BLUES BAND” CD’s recorded live at the 544 Club.
